Mid Ch 1 Test on Monday!

Review:  multiplication facts, powers & exponents

Skills:  solving equations, area of rectangles & parallelograms, choosing method of computation

6th Math

Review:  prime factorization, multiplication facts

Skills:  powers & exponents, order of operations, evaluate algebraic expressions  pp. 14 - 37 student text

Quiz on Wed. & Fri.

Ch. 1 Vocabulary now due Friday, Sept. 7.

Please make sure students have their red binder & folder, 2 regular pencils and red pens and notebook paper!

Language Arts

Review:  Writing effective sentences, run-on & stringy sentences, combining sentences

Vocabulary quiz on Tuesday.  New words introduced on Wednesday.

DOL - Daily Oral Language

Students correct 2 sentences each day for a weekly grade. Done in class together.

Spinner Book Report  -  Assigned last Friday and due Sept. 11.  Examples were passed around for everyone to examine.  Assignment sheet sent home to be signed & returned for check on Monday, Aug. 27.  Students may keep sheet once it’s checked.

AR Test  -  Due Sept. 21.  Students must read a green dot book, level 5.0 to 8.0, from the library & take the test on that book.  This book may also be used for the spinner book report so long as it is a fiction book.

Review:  Multiplication facts  will be reviewed for the 1st 9 weeks.  Timed tests on Mon. & Th. lead to membership in the 3 min. club.    (See note home.)

Skills this week:  4 step problem solving plan, order of operations, variables & expressions

Quiz on Wednesday & mid ch.1 test on Friday.

Check agenda books for homework.

Review:  Students will take a diagnostic test in both Reading & Language Arts.

Skills this week:  run-on sentences, sentence fragments & stringy sentences

Vocabulary:  1st ten words introduced in cartoon format

Vocabulary quiz over the list is next Tuesday, Aug. 28.

Daily Oral Language:  Students will review & correct 2 sentences for punctuation, spelling, capitalization, usage etc. daily.  This will be graded each week.

6th Math Agenda

Review:  Multiplication facts for 1st 9 weeks

Each week’s timed test can lead to membership in the 3 minute club.  (See note home.)

Skills this week:  4 step plan for problem solving, divisibility patterns, prime factors  pp. 6 - 17   Check agendas for homework.

Quiz on Wednesday over lessons 1-1 and 1-2.

Vocabulary sheet due Friday, Aug.31.
