Homeroom        Week of March 9

Parent conferences this Thursday from 3:30 to 6:30 pm.  Meetings were scheduled according to need.  If you did not receive a notice and would like a conference please contact a team teacher as soon as possible.

Spring recess begins at dismissal on Friday.  School resumes on Monday, March 23.

International Week is this week. The dinner is Thursday in the cafeteria.

Conference notes were sent to those parents we feel we need to meet with at this time. If you did not receive a note and feel you need a conference, please contact me.

Homeroom          Week of Feb. 9

Thank you to the class for the great new clock!  It is now up on our back wall and is much appreciated!

The SFMS Science fair is this Thursday & is open to the public from 5 to 6:30 pm.

Beta Club sells Val-O-Grams this week for $.50 each.  Proceeds go to Make-A-Wish.  This is a great opportunity for students to send their classmates valentines since we do not do this in the classroom.

Looking ahead:  Next week, Mon. & Tues., Feb. 16 & 17,  are vacation days.  No school!

No school Monday for Martin Luther King Day.  Classes resume on Tuesday.

Magazine sales turn in day is Tuesday.

Semester awards program is Friday, Jan. 23, at 8:30 am in the gym.

School resumes Monday, Jan. 5!

Basketball game with Houston Middle rescheduled for Monday, Jan. 5,  after school.  Students need written permission and $3 to stay after school.

Homeroom           Week of Dec. 15

Thank you so much to all who participated with our Angel Tree program.  Our class collected quite a wonderful array of gifts which made them very proud, and will make one young man very happy over the holidays!

Monday is our field trip to the IMAX and Pink Palace.  We will have pizza for lunch in the classroom upon our return so students do not need to bring/buy their lunch that day.

Students may still bring in their stocking or holiday bag to be filled with treats by our classmates.  Check the note on red paper from last week for your student’s day to add to the stockings.

Winter break begins at the close of school this Friday, Dec. 15.  School will resume on January 5.  Best wishes for a wonderful and relaxing holiday.

Tuesday  -  Choral concert  6:30 pm in cafeteria

Wednesday  -  Angel Tree gifts wrapped & brought to school & students bring in their stockings/holiday bags

Thursday  -  Basketball vs Southwind after school;  Band concert at Collierville 1st Baptist Church  7pm

Saturday, Dec. 13   -  Band fruit pick-up  8 – 12 noon

Homeroom            Week of Dec. 1

Angel Tree Information was sent home last Friday.  Students sign up in class for an item they would like to purchase, wrap and bring in for our 5 year old boy, LeQuan.  If you did not receive this yet your student has not sign up.  This is a voluntary activity which we encourage you to discuss with your child to decide if you would like to help us support this Collierville program.

Field trip money is due this week.  If your student has not done so already, please send in the $10 with the permission slip by Friday.  Most have paid already and we thank you!  Remember checks should be made out to SFMS and this includes the pizza for lunch that day, Dec. 15.

Homeroom Week of Nov. 24

Thanksgiving break is Wednesday, Thursday & Friday this week. Happy Thanksgiving!

Please return field trip money ($10) and permission slip for Dec. 17 field trip to Pink Palace & IMAX. Make checks to SFMS.

Math Think Link test 2 is Dec. 1.

Our class has adopted an angel from the Angel Tree program. Information coming this week!

Food Drive for Collierville Food Pantry is all this week. Please help with our collection of canned goods to help those less fortunate in our own community.

Monday – Voices of the South in-house field trip – drama presentation

SFMS Spelling Bee is Tuesday.

Reflections contest awards at the PTSA meeting o Thursday, Nov. 20 at 6:30 pm. Spaghetti dinner is from 5:30 – 6:30. Tickets are $5.00 per person and must be purchased by Tuesday.

Yearbook is now on sale for $40. After Nov. 25 the cost is $45. Make checks to SFMS.

Most everyone has paid their $2 for our in-house field trip on Nov. 17 with Voices of the South.  If your student still needs to bring this in please do so on Monday.

Don’t forget to set you clocks BACK one hour on Sunday, Nov. 2!

This is Red Ribbon Week.  Activities for the week were listed on the red sheet that came home last week.

PRIDE presentation on Tuesday is part of the Red Ribbon activities.

Presidential debate for 6th grade is Wednesday.

Basketball game at SFMS on Monday after school.  Students must have a permission slip to stay.

10 / 23   Green / White Basketball game after school at 3:30 (Students must have written permission to stay.)

Mrs. Carbonell has joined us in the absence of Mrs. Whittington.  She does not have an email at this time.  Please contact one of the other team teachers or call the office if you have concerns and we will make sure  the information finds its way to her.  She is doing a wonderful job and we are so lucky to have her!

Remember our 6A activity is on the 17th at Tom’s Farm.  Price is $8 a person and includes the corn maze and hot dog dinner.  Please plan to come and join us!  Money must be turned in by this Friday, Oct. 10!!

This is Fire Prevention Week.  6th grade program is Friday morning.

Conferences are this Thursday afternoon.  Letters have been sent to those parents our team teachers felt the need to meet with.  All others may request a conference by contacting their homeroom teacher.

Homeroom         Week of Sept. 29

Spirit day on Friday.

6th grade dance/mixer is finally here!  Begins right after school on Friday at 3:15.  All students must be picked up at 5:15.

Parent conference night is Oct. 9.  Time does not allow us to meet with everyone and team teachers organize conferences for that night based on immediate needs of the students.  If you do not receive a conference letter and would like to request a conference at another time please contact me with an email or note.  Please check your Tuesday folder for conference letters and respond as quickly as possible so that we may finalize our schedule for the convenience of all.

Also….be looking for information soon on our class T-shirts and our team 6A activity!

Student Council Induction on Thursday at 9:00 am in the cafeteria.

Please return letter and / or  donation for our room mother, Kristi Norment, to use for our homeroom parties etc.  She has graciously taken on this responsibility on your behalf and that of your student.

Thanks for all your support with PTSA memberships!  We have earned a treat party!

Thursday, September 18, is Open House at Schilling Farms.  Dinner reservations can be made through Tuesday.  Corky’s will cater.  Club fair, Book Fair and PTSA meeting are also that evening.  5:30 – 7:30 pm

Monday, September 1 is the Labor Day holiday…no school!

Tuesday, Sept, 2: Parent portal of Power Grade opens & students receive their passwords for online grades.

Thursday, Sept. 4: Homeroom student council rep election. All candidates must have reference form and application on file with Mrs Corrigan, and present 1 – 2 min. speech on Wed. or Thurs.

Friday, Sept. 5: School pictures

Homeroom             Week of Aug. 25

Students should have all supplies. Look for the Tuesday envelope with graded papers, sign, and return on Wednesday.

Information for the fund raiser was sent home on Thursday.  Remember students are not to go door-to-door unless accompanied by a parent.

Reminder that Sept. 1 is Labor Day and there will be no school on that day.

Homeroom               Week of Aug. 18

Parent Curriculum Night is Monday, August 18 at 7pm.  Our team (6A) will meet in the chorus room, number 111.  We are looking forward to meeting and talking with you and sharing important information concerning your student’s academic environment.

Please return all other materials sent home in the brown envelope last week on the first day of school.  There are still several of you who have missing items.  It is important for us to have all information so that we can more readily help you and your student throughout the year.

Students did a terrific job their first week of middle school!  They are working very hard to master our routines and are very cooperative and happy!  We are enjoying them immensely!

Welcome to Schilling Farms Middle School and Team 6A! We are so excited to meet you and can’t wait to get your 6th grade year started. You will be receiving lots of information our first week. Some is also given right here on the blog so be sure to check it all out!
